Effects of aging on memoryBrain is one part of the body which is also affected as we grow old. The main job of brain is to store and remember all the details that are happening and try to recollect when required.
As we grow old the brain cells tend to lose their nature and in turn lead to loss of memory. This is very common in old people they tend to forget even daily things and get other help. Our brain tends to lose the cells in the areas which produce the important neuro transmitters. Decrease in these cells and slowing down the process of reminding us things that happened in the past. The other changes that can occur in the brain are also dangerous for the memory capacity of the brain. Brain contains a white matter called nerve cell fibers. These nerve cell fibers are considered to be the like the telephone cables of the brain cells used for transmitting the signals from the brain to other parts of the body. Most of these cells start depleting and resulting in loss of memory and recollecting power of details. There are no research results to show how these white cells are lost from the brain but they are proved to occur in most of the old people leading to loss of memory. As we grow older the ability to take in new memories also starts decreasing that is why it is difficult for old people to learn something new. Their brain is not ready to accept new things either it is already full of old memories or the cells are worn out to accept new things.
